Rent a Day — Parakite Rental in Portugal
Rent the day. Not the wing.
You already fly parakite and want to fly in Portugal without bringing your wing. You book a day; Happy Soaring checks you as a pilot, is there on the day and gets you flying on the right setup for that day’s conditions.
You book the day, not the wing
- The day is the unit You buy access to Rent a Day for a flyable day, not hours of use of a wing.
- The wing is not booked No specific wing is booked: no model or size is guaranteed.
- Happy Soaring picks the setup Happy Soaring picks each pilot’s setup according to experience, weight, conditions, the equipment available and how well pilot and equipment match.
How it works
- Pick an open day in the calendar and request it on WhatsApp.
- Happy Soaring checks your licence, insurance and parakite experience.
- You pay 30% of the total for the days booked and the booking is confirmed.
- Happy Soaring picks the setup and confirms the day according to conditions.
- You fly. The remaining €70 is paid at the start of each flyable day.
Requesting a day is not booking it. The booking is confirmed after validation and the 30% payment.
With your request we ask for: name and contact, licence (issuing body and validity), insurance (validity and cover in Portugal), body weight, parakite experience and the wings you usually fly, and the date you want.
Who it is for
Rent a Day is for pilots with prior parakite experience. It is not a first flying experience.
- A valid pilot licence.
- Insurance with valid cover in Portugal.
- Adequate parakite experience.
- Validation by Happy Soaring before the day.
- Acceptance of the terms and conditions and of pilot responsibility.
A paraglider pilot with no parakite experience? Rent a Day is not the first step. Start with the course or with Pilot2Wing, and come back afterwards.
The equipment and how the setup is chosen
This is the main Rent a Day pool. Each setup pairs the wing with a suitable harness, chosen by Happy Soaring.

Being in the pool does not mean that model or size is available or booked.
How the setup is chosen
- Experience What you have flown in parakite, and on which wings.
- Weight Your body weight; the all-up weight is worked out with the setup’s harness.
- Conditions The wind and the day decide the size, and can change it.
- Equipment available What is free and in good order that day, across all the pilots present.
Weight is only one of the factors: there is no wing that corresponds to a weight.
The setup can change during the same day, when it makes sense. It is Happy Soaring’s decision, depends on conditions and on the pilot, is not guaranteed and does not change the price of the day.

Where and when
Where we fly
The site is chosen on the day, according to conditions, the pilot and how that day is running. No spot is promised.
The Atlantic coast south of Lisbon has several sea-breeze spots, and knowing them is part of what Happy Soaring brings to the day.
What “a day” means
The day has no start time and no end time. It starts when conditions allow the activity to begin and ends when they are no longer suitable.
Among what can end the day are lack of wind, a change in conditions, excessive humidity or anything that compromises the proper use or the care of the equipment.
Happy Soaring is there
There is no handing over of a wing for you to take away and fly on your own. Happy Soaring is present during Rent a Day and manages the equipment, the setups and the day’s operation.
It is not an organised outing: you fly on your own account, with your own decisions as a pilot. Happy Soaring is there to manage the equipment, the setups and the adaptation to conditions.
What is included, and the price
- Wing and harness The complete setup, wing plus suitable harness, chosen and managed by Happy Soaring.
- €100 per pilot per flyable day The same price whatever the wing or setup.
- 30% at booking, €70 on each day One day: €30 at booking and €70 at the start of the flyable day. Four days: €120 at booking and €70 on each flyable day.

No radio is included: it is not needed and is not part of the offer.

Responsibility
The pilot
The pilot is responsible for their own flying decisions, for judging whether to keep flying and for the correct use of the equipment.
The pilot is responsible for any damage they cause to the equipment during use.
Happy Soaring
Happy Soaring can prevent or end the use of the equipment when it considers that conditions are no longer suitable, that there is a risk to the equipment, that there is an incompatibility with the pilot or that the service requirements are no longer met.

Frequently asked questions
Can I choose the wing or book a specific wing?
No. With Rent a Day you book the day, not the wing. Happy Soaring picks each pilot’s setup on the day, according to experience, weight, conditions and the equipment available.
Can I book a Mullet 2 20 for tomorrow?
The Mullet 2 20 is part of the Happy Soaring pool, but Rent a Day does not book a specific wing. Happy Soaring first checks the pilot, the conditions and the equipment available, and only then confirms the setup.
How much is it?
€100 per pilot per flyable day, the same for any wing or setup. At booking you pay 30% of the total for the days; the remaining €70 is paid at the start of each flyable day.
How does the 30% payment work?
Once Happy Soaring has validated the request, you pay 30% of the total for the days booked and the booking is confirmed. One day: €30. Two days: €60. Four days: €120. The rest, €70 per pilot, is paid at the start of each flyable day.
What does “a day” mean? What time does it start?
There is no fixed start or end time. The day starts when conditions allow the activity to begin and ends when they are no longer suitable: lack of wind, a change in conditions, excessive humidity or a risk to the equipment. The length is whatever the day itself allows.
What happens if there are no conditions?
A day without conditions is not a flyable day, and the €70 for that day is not paid. Happy Soaring only charges in full for days that are actually flyable. What happens to the 30% share for a non-flyable day is confirmed at booking.
Can I book several days?
Yes. Request one day in the calendar and name the others in the message. The booking is 30% of the total for the days booked, and each day is confirmed according to conditions.
Is a day shown as open in the calendar already confirmed?
No. An open day is a day you can request. The booking is confirmed after validation and the 30% payment, and flying conditions are confirmed closer to the date.
Can I book directly from the calendar?
No. The calendar is for requesting a day: when you click, a WhatsApp message opens with the date. Happy Soaring validates the request and only then is the booking confirmed.
Do I need a licence?
Yes. A valid pilot licence is required, and Happy Soaring checks it before the day.
Do I need insurance?
Yes. Insurance with valid cover in Portugal for the activity is required, and Happy Soaring checks it before the day.
I am a paraglider pilot. Can I use Rent a Day?
Only with prior parakite experience. Without it, the path starts with the Parakite course or with Pilot2Wing, and Rent a Day comes afterwards.

Is Happy Soaring there? Do I collect the wing and fly alone?
Happy Soaring is present throughout Rent a Day and manages the equipment and the setups. There is no handing over of a wing for you to take away and fly on your own. You fly on your own account, with your own decisions as a pilot.
Can I use more than one wing on the same day?
It can happen, when it makes sense for the conditions and for the pilot. It is Happy Soaring’s decision, is not guaranteed and does not change the price of the day.
What if I damage the equipment?
The pilot is responsible for any damage they cause to the equipment during use. How it is assessed and settled is in the terms you sign before the day.
Is this a guided outing?
No. Rent a Day makes a day available with equipment managed by Happy Soaring, with its knowledge of the conditions and the sites. Each pilot flies on their own account and makes their own flying decisions.
